We would like to introduce ourselves, Steve and Kathryn Allen, as the new owners/managers of GOLDEN POND RESORT. We relocated from Michigan because we fell in love with the Lake Cumberland region and hope you will too.
GOLDEN POND RESORT is located in Monticello-Wayne County, Kentucky. It lies in both the Mississippian plateau and the Eastern Kentucky coalfields. Beautiful Lake Cumberland forms much of the Northern border of Wayne County, while Tennessee forms the Southern border.
There are, parks, horseback riding, hunting and fishing, camping, golf, and several marinas which draw thousands of tourists to the area each year.
The Wayne County Memorial Park has 86 acres and is located on Michigan Avenue and offers many recreational facilities for all ages…..baseball fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, playgrounds, shelter houses, a horse show ring and a walking trail.
Monticello is the home of Mills Springs Historic park, site of one of the significant battles of the Civil War. Each year hundreds of tourists visit the historic mill built in the early 1800's. In 1908 the installation of the new wheel designated the site as home of the world's largest overshot water wheel.
Lake Cumberland is the largest lake in Kentucky and is one of the top ten largest in the world.
